SKILL LEVEL: MUST BE A CERTIFIED FREEDIVER. These outpost trips are designed and geared towards intermediate + spearfishers. There is always room to learn about bluewater spearfishing on these trips but you should have prior spearfishing experience and be comfortable with your gear management. Ideally you can hunt all day at 10-15m and be comfortable doing 18-20m hunts. If you are hunting at those depths. You’re into world class fish in these zones.
Ideal Comfortable Hunting Depths: Ideal hunting depths 15m-30m. Intermediate + level. 18-20m+ gets you into those world class fish. (even shallower in some places.
Hunting grounds: Endless grounds and zones on pacific side out of the outpost. From offshore pinnacles to shallow and deep reef structures its an endless playground.
EQUIPMENT: Participants are responsible for their own equipment or organizing rentals with the resort. For a short trip like this rentals can make alot of sense but if you’re interested in purchasing your own equipment we can get you a gear list and support facilitating that for you.
A few key notes for gear:
Gun size - 110cm - 130cm would be your best all around gun sizes for mix of Reef and blue water on this trip.
3mm suit is ideal suit thickness. 5mm top might be an idea to have pending water temps and currents at time of year.
If this is your first blue-water trip we highly recommend taking a Freedive-Harvesting Course with us to get you familiar some of the equipment we’ll be using
